We celebrated the San Diego Documenters program launch at the National City Public Library on June 1, 2024. Community members and leaders gathered to learn more about our growing bilingual program in partnership with the library.


Steve Breen and Grant Oliphant discuss cartooning, art and community storytelling

June 2, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Comic-Con Museum

inewsource Pulitzer Prize-winning Cartoonist Steve Breen and Conrad Prebys Foundation CEO Grant Oliphant discuss their shared love and history of cartooning, art and their place in community storytelling. Grantโ€™s father, Pat Oliphant, is the legendary cartoonist who inspired Steve to be an editorial cartoonist.

Dig This: inewsource investigates illegal rent increases in San Diego

Investigative Reporter Cody Dulaney, Managing Editor Jamie Self, and Madeline Howard, senior staff attorney at Western Center on Law & Poverty, discuss our investigative series on illegal rent increases in San Diego. The impact: Nearly 30,000 low-income families now have the same protection from excessive rent increases as other California renters.

inewsource conversation with Dean Baquet

Jan. 28, 2024 – Hosted by Joan and Irwin Jacobs at Rancho Valencia

Dean Baquet, who served as executive editor of The New York Times for eight years until June 2022, joined inewsource for a special event for Spotlight Club members giving $2,500+. Today, Baquet is focused on studying the local news landscape and trying to strengthen it through the Times’ Local Investigations Fellowship.
